HISTORY
GENESIS:
The Government's mission to provide higher education to all young learners and aspirants was put into action when then Honourable Chief Minister made an announcement on 29 Sep 2015 that a new Government Arts and Science College at Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar, Tondiarpet will start functioning from the academic year 2015-2016. The corresponding G.O.Ms.No.439 dated 30.09.2015 immediately geared the Department of Higher Education into action. The University of Madras granted affiliation to the new institution vide letter No. A1/FFJ/2015-2016/847 dated 27.10.2015 based on the report that was submitted by the University Inspection Committee and the approval of the Syndicate. On 28 Oct 2015 the then Honourable Chief Minister inaugurated the functioning of the college through a simple video-conferencing. Thiru P. Palaniappan, Minster for Higher Education, Smt. Sundaravalli I.A.S., District Collector, Chennai. Dr.K.Sekar, Director of Collegiate Education, Dr.P.Umarani, Joint Director(Planning and Development) of Collegiate Education, Dr.Kanniga, Regional Joint Director, Chennai region, Dr.Amutha Pandian, Principal-in- charge were present. Since then, this premier educational institution of higher education is making great strides to achieve its vision and attain its mission.
COURSES
During the academic year 2015 – 16, B.A. English, B.A. Economics and B.Com General (E/M) were started followed by the introduction of B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship course in 2016. In 2018 -19 B.A. Tamil, B.Sc. Maths, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Com. General (T/M), B.A. Economics (T/M) were introduced along with M.Com. and M.A. Economics. Bachelor of Business Administration was started in the year 2019 -20. The college now offers 8 Under Graduate courses and 2 Post Graduate courses. At present, the college has 19 full time teaching faculty members and 20 Guest Lecturers.

While the branches reach towards the sky, the roots penetrate deep into the earth giving rise to a rich foliage and luscious fruits. The college like the tree encourages and motivates the students to push his/her roots deep into the soul of the earth and in the process gain knowledge, wisdom and are enlightened. These give them an enduring strength to face life with a brave heart and a positive attitude. The branches stress upon the role of the microcosmic individual in a macrocosmic design. The leaves are a constant reminder of the need for renewal of spirit and regeneration. The fruits symbolize the qualities of self-realization, self-discipline, innovative thinking, ethical decision-making, commitment, sincerity, empathy, sympathy, generosity, tolerance and finally a world view in which one recognized his role.
